Marching Season and ramblings

Its been a week since we started this marching season crap and so far the freshmen haven’t had any problems with learning the basics of marching or lack the maturity level to understand what we are doing is not only important to our band image that we show other schools, but also the pride that we take in performing and playing our best. Generally we would be marching out of step or not following orders, but moving from a 4A school to a 5A competing school - which ultimately raises the standard that students in band and the whole school has to change how we act.

Lets move along though and get focusses on what my real point is: my server, DirecWay, Python and web design. Recently my dad finally agree to pay the $699.99 pricetag for DirecWay since everyone else in my family have been bickering about how slow dialup is (why is that when everyone else starts talking about how annoying something is, when you are the one who began complaining about the same thing for more than a year?) I guess I could be totally wrong about this, but I’m only basing this on my own experiences. If I have any complaints about DirecWay, then I would critisize it for trying to be a router; this actually isnt the problem I’m having, but it concerns it very much. The problem is the NAT on the modem itself, which is indefinately not letting my packets go straight to the computer. Also why I do not like about it is the way I’m connected to the net because instead of assigned my computer an actual IP address, the cable modem instead acts as a gateway that assigns all computers connected to it a LAN address of 192.168.X.X which makes it impossible for me to run a server since its not possible for others to access a computer with that kind of address. I’ve also tried having apache use the cable modems address that it uses, but this fails horribly because the modem is running a small server on it that tells the user its info, etc… From what I’ve found on this modem (the DW6000) is that only business users can change the settings on it and even then you need a program that DirecWay gives you. So for now I’m having to use geocities until I can get someone hosting it for me.

Its been about 2 weeks since I first began a beginners guide to programming that introduces one to the basics; but all has been on hold since I was really needing a site design… the site is finished and I’m ready to continue once again with the learning!
