English - The Way I Feel About It

There are some who wan't to dive deeply into the world of English; I'm not one of them and I've merely feigned enjoying the subject to convince myself of what the purpose of being in AP English is: not having to take it in college!

The teacher is great, especially when the teacher just so happens to be a college professor for ACC, the downside is she is really tough on her AP students.

Feeling like an idiot in an advanced course isn't fun, in fact it really annoying because the teacher seems to think you aren't applying yourself. Yeah right :-. I hate writing and I don't want to learn more about it because, like everything else, I reach a mental block and I cannot move past it; it's already happend in Band and now its this year in English.

Homework assignments are the easiest thing in the world to do, but give me a paper to write in English and you can forget it. What usually happens is I wait till the last minute because I keep avoiding it and it falls into the back of my mind, then cram the paper in the night before and I get a A or B on it; not bad. But the stress of it all nearly kills my immune system and just like that, some stupid viral crap hits me and I'm knocked on my butt. I've tried not putting my papers off, but the same thing happens everytime. Its a bad habit, but nobody has taught me how to break it and there isn't much you can do when you try to stop and fail.

It might serve a better purpose to include an example of a "simple" homework assignment to relate my trouble to:

Type one page explaining the relationship of chapter 17 & 18, of Huckleberry Finn, to the development of the dichotomy between Realism & Romanticism.

Well, "dichotomy" means something is differen't, so explain the difference between Realism and Romanticism. Realism is showing life as it really is and Romanticism deals with how Nature and the innerself relate. So it's not exactly that hard, but it took me almost an hour to figure out everything and get a rough draft, then another 30 minutes to revise it; the rest of the class said they were able to finish it, at their houses, in less than an hour. Wtf?

I wish my teacher knew that her class is the reason kids go on shooting rampages. English is a great language and I love it, but writing can go to hell because I know all that I need and want to know about it.

English…. f*ck you.
