New news
Everything crossed out is complete and total bullshit and wish I had never written it.
It has been awhile since I have written anything to the public, you might have noticed the torrent of images that have been posted lately; I feel this calls for an explanation.
You people do not know what they want to do with their life, however there are some that do. Unfortunately those few do not include me.
Since the end of 8th grade, my plans have been to major in Computer Science (CS), but in the past year and a half I have grown to love photography. Enough to want to minor in the area of film and the arts.
Clarification must be made, however, as I do not want to consider myself someone who can create something from nothing (such as a painter or sculptor). Photographs, generally, capture the existing world in the way the artist wants the audience to perceive it. That part of the film is what interests me, I want to to be able to let people see how I perceive the world, show them what it means to me and what feelings it invokes.
The end of the school year draws near and I will soon be on the way to college so that choice of where I want to go is on my shoulders. Texas A&M is an excellent choice for CS, but they do not offer any film/photography courses. I also found out recently that I am not accepted for this semester and I put myself on the waiting list and on the Blinn TEAM. Blinn is a good college and if I keep my GPA as a 3.0 and get 30 hours credit then I can transfer to the main A&M campus. However in light of recent events, I have been considering the University of Houston since a lot of my family graduated from there and they also have a strong CS program; also, my grandmother and aunt live close to U of H so that would be a plus on being able to visit family and have some company close by; it also helps that I am already accepted to this university. I applied to UTSA as well so I just have to wait for an admissions decision from them as well.
Before this school year, I did not realize how much work is involved in the making of a yearbook, but my mother practically signed me up for the job of head photographer when she told my English IV AP/yearbook adviser that I have a knack for photography. The title is great, but its also synonymous with “time consuming”.
Now that the yearbook if finished, the benefits will not only be an awesome thing for the school and senior class, but it is really a portfolio of what I am capable of and then some. I can guarantee there is not a page in the book (save for a few) that was not touched by myself for corrections or help. The result is going to be stunning, and I can not wait to share it with yall.
Last year I vowed to put an end to my Blender usage to free up the lost time that had already been spent on something that was not returning any improvement in my skill in 3D modeling and animation. That being said, Blender is an incredibly program with, in my opinion, one of the best OSS development teams today. The rate at which releases are made and the remarkable quality of the product is amazing. Also, the features included in the program are mature and able to compete with high-end suites that artists must pay for.
For example, recently “German animation studio Die Versilberte Eitelkeit and Arroba Films S.A. de C.V. have recently finished their 8 minute short movie ‘Cosmic Balance’, based on Francisco Athi©’s short novel. Much of the work was done in Blender”. (blendernation.com) The company used Blender in their work flow for “about 98% of the modelling, mapping and texturing work”. They will be giving a presentation about the making of the movie at the AutoDesk tower…thats pretty amazing for Blender considering they made their first appearance this year at SIGGRAPH (with the OSS booth that consisted of the other mainstream OSS graphics projects) around big players in the game, showing off what Blender is capable of.
On a final note, I should finally come out with the big “excuse” of why I have only been posting pictures lately. It is called WoW, and I love it. I have a 70 human mage on the Blackhand server and I also have the job of raid organizer for my guild so with school and WoW, I am kept very busy.
